GastroAntalya 2025 Success

Students of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences proudly represented our university at the GastroAntalya 2025 competitions held in Antalya. Drawing intense international attention, the event brought together professional chefs, academics, and industry representatives from 42 countries, offering a remarkable stage on which young chefs could prove themselves.
Held for the sixth time this year, the international GastroAntalya International Gastronomy and Culinary Stars Gathering set the scene for months of dedicated effort. From the moment the application process opened in September, our students embarked on an intensive and disciplined preparation period, and the determination and resolve they showed throughout that journey carried over seamlessly into the competition arena.
Accompanied by the Head of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Lect. Özkan Yazar, and departmental academic Res. Asst. Necati Karakaş, the team competed on 21-23 November 2025 at the Antalya Glass Pyramid Convention Center. Competing in four categories in total, three individual and one team, our students delivered an outstanding performance by claiming gold and silver medals across every single category.
The students who placed and the categories in which they were awarded are as follows:
University Level Student Chef Fish Competition: Seyithan Öztürk – Gold medal
University Level Student Chef Main Course Competition: Ulaş Ağkaya – Gold medal
University Level Pizza Competition: Bilal Çırak – Gold medal
University Level Modern Turkish Cuisine Team Competition: Harun Demir, Muhammet Furkan Çallak, Osman Bağbaşı – Silver medal
This meaningful achievement not only demonstrates that our students have reached a level capable of showcasing their professional skills on the international stage, but also stands as a striking reflection of our department's hands-on, practice-oriented approach to education. We wholeheartedly congratulate all our students who represented our university with such dedication, and we extend our sincere thanks to our departmental academics whose efforts and contributions shaped the preparation process. As Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences, we wish our young chefs continued success on national and international platforms in the years to come, and we proudly reaffirm just how much they have made us all proud.
