Field Trip Organized to Manici Kasrı Hotel and Nadas Kazdağları Hotel Within the Scope of the Bakery Products Course

Field Trip

Second-year students of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences carried out a field trip to the Manici Kasrı and Nadas Kazdağları hotels in Yeşilyurt, Ayvacık, within the scope of the Bakery Products course conducted by Lect. Özkan Yazar.

During the visit to Manici Kasrı as part of the field trip, Chef Mehmet Ağaç Şahin, along with the sous chef, the pastry chef, and the hot kitchen chef, met with the students and shared information about kitchen organization, production processes, and applications. While treats specially prepared for the students were served, each kitchen chef shared practices related to their own area of expertise and answered the students' questions. The kitchen areas were toured on site, offering the opportunity to examine production processes in a hands-on manner. Detailed information was also provided about Manici Kasrı's architecture, kitchen infrastructure, and business operations.

At Nadas Kazdağları, another external stakeholder visited as part of the trip, the management and kitchen team presented the facility and answered the students' questions. Information was shared about their approach to sustainability, kitchen practices, and the events they hold, and through the treats served, the students had the chance to closely observe their production approach. It was noted that this visit gave the students new professional ideas, increased their motivation, and offered an important perspective on the industry.

Internship opportunities were also discussed during the visit, creating an important opportunity for the students to connect with the industry. At the end of the visits, both establishments were thanked for hosting GUBY students, and it was stated that the field trip opened the door to new collaborations with external stakeholders, with the aim of strengthening and continuing these collaborations in the period ahead.

We would like to thank once again the kitchen teams, staff, and management of Manici Kasrı and Nadas Kazdağları for the hospitality they showed throughout the visit.
