GUBY Took Part in the Turkish Cuisine Week "Feast of Flavors" with Traditional Tastes

24.05.2026

Event

The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences took part in the "Feast of Flavors" event organized by Gökçeada Municipality on 24 May 2026, within the scope of Turkish Cuisine Week, celebrated between 21-27 May 2026. Held for the third time this year, the event became an important meeting point in the region for promoting the rich cultural heritage of Turkish cuisine.

The preparation work for the event was organized in advance under the coordination of the Head of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Lect. Özkan Yazar. Our department participated with a total of 20 food and beverage products in the area where distinguished foods and drinks of Turkish cuisine were displayed.

On the day of the event, the area was attended by Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts academics Lect. Özkan Yazar, Lect. Dr. Özge Büyük, Lect. Yağmur Su Kocabaş Güneşhan, and Lect. Ayşen Öztürk, along with School Acting Secretary Medet Yıldırım. The volunteer students of our department also supported the organization with great dedication.

Guests who visited our stand were given information about the preparation stages and traditional production methods of the products, while refreshments from our traditional flavors were offered. As dishes specific to Turkish cuisine were brought together with the participants, a contribution was made to keeping our cultural values alive and passing our gastronomic heritage on to future generations.

At this event, organized in cooperation with Gökçeada Municipality within the scope of Turkish Cuisine Week, our department found the opportunity to promote the rich cultural heritage and traditional flavors of Turkish cuisine, creating an important sharing environment both in terms of providing our students with hands-on experience and contributing to Gökçeada's gastronomy tourism potential.

We thank all our students and academics who supported the event, as well as Gökçeada Municipality, whose efforts made the organization possible.
