Once Again, Champion GUBY

This year, themed around the National Cuisine Movement, GUBY secured first place once again in the University Chefs Category at the 9th World Halal Summit International Chefs Championship.

The International Culinary Championship, held concurrently with the 9th World Halal Summit and the 10th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Halal Expo Fair at the Istanbul Expo Center from November 23-26, 2023, brought together renowned chefs and leading figures from the gastronomy world.

The World Chefs Cup, held alongside the World Halal Summit and Halal Fair, featured nearly 1,000 chefs from 41 countries competing fiercely over four days. In the competition's University Chefs category, our School of Applied Sciences' Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students once again clinched first place, maintaining their success from last year. Prepared under the leadership of Instructor Zeynep Ceren Akkök, Gülnaz Meyda, Mine Kök, Ersan Saygın Güneş, and Ümit Getirici repeated their previous year's achievement, bringing pride to all of us.

The champion students from ÇOMÜ Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences' Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department were accompanied by our School Director Dr. Lecturer Hande Kandur Arslan, Deputy Director Lecturer Özkan Yazar, and Instructor Zeynep Ceren Akkök at the event.
