Our students from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences shared the experiences they gained in Portugal within the scope of Erasmus+ Student Mobility, this time with first-year students.
Having previously shared their Erasmus experiences with the academic staff, our students conveyed guiding information in this presentation, particularly to first-year students who are considering applying for the Erasmus process in the upcoming terms.
In the presentation, the journey of the Erasmus process, beginning with the application stage, was addressed in detail. The students provided information about the points to be considered during the application process, the preference stage, and the evaluation criteria. They then shared their experiences during the visa process, the required documents, time planning, and practical advice for ensuring the process proceeds smoothly.
Regarding the departure process, our students offered examples on finding accommodation, adapting to the university, course selection, and daily life practices, and gave a first-hand account of the academic, cultural, and social experiences of their Erasmus period in Portugal. The contributions of studying in a different country to professional development, self-confidence, and gaining a broader vision were emphasized.
The presentation continued with the return process, academic adaptation, course matching, and the personal and professional gains of Erasmus. The students expressed that the Erasmus experience is not merely an educational process but also an important life experience that supports individual development.
The presentation was held with the aim of increasing our students' motivation to apply for the Erasmus+ program and strengthening awareness of international mobility.
