Graduation Celebration
The 2025-2026 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences, was held with great enthusiasm and pride on 22 May 2026.
The ceremony was attended by Gökçeada District Governor Osman Acar, Gökçeada Mayor Bülent Ecevit Atalay, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Evren Karayel Gökkaya, Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Hande Kandur Arslan, academic and administrative staff, students, and a large number of families.
The program began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem. The live performance of the National Anthem accompanied by piano, delivered by young artist Ali Uras Terzi, added special meaning to the ceremony. Afterwards, the ÇOMÜ Anthem and our university's promotional film were shared with the audience.
The opening of the ceremony was crowned with an artistic touch through a piano recital performed by one of our students, Yusuf Can Güven. The impressive performance our student delivered received enthusiastic applause from the guests.
As part of the opening speeches, Gökçeada School of Applied Sciences Valedictorian Ayşe Nur Tombak, School Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Hande Kandur Arslan, ÇOMÜ Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Evren Karayel Gökkaya, Gökçeada Mayor Bülent Ecevit Atalay, and Gökçeada District Governor Osman Acar gave heartfelt speeches on the meaning and significance of the day.
As the ceremony continued, certificates of achievement were presented to the students who ranked highest in the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. The certificate for department valedictorian Ayşe Nur Tombak was presented by Gökçeada District Governor Osman Acar, the certificate for department runner-up Azime Akadar by Gökçeada Mayor Bülent Ecevit Atalay, and the certificate for the third-ranked student Hatice Çiçek by Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Evren Karayel Gökkaya. The certificates of achievement for our other students who earned the right to graduate were presented by the academic staff of our school.
During the nameplate-nailing moment at the graduation log, one of the deep-rooted traditions of our school, the 2025-2026 Academic Year Valedictorian Ayşe Nur Tombak inscribed her name into the history of our school.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to our students who contributed to the ceremony with their artistic and organizational efforts; Yusuf Can Güven, Ali Uras Terzi, and Berk Sayın received certificates for their artistic contributions, while our students on the organizing team received certificates for their efforts.
In the final part of the program, our graduates excitedly went out into the garden and, after a countdown made all together, threw their caps into the sky. The ceremony, in which students and their families experienced emotional moments, was recorded as a meaningful day that filled the academic community with pride.
