Event
On February 27, 2023, an event was organized at our school where students from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and our graduate Chef Hasan Kaplan came together. The event began with a workshop where doughs for sourdough bread and pizzas were prepared. After allowing the prepared doughs to ferment, the event transitioned to a discussion session.
During the discussion, Chef Hasan Kaplan shared memories and experiences from his student days in Gökçeada, along with his journey of discovering sourdough. He also discussed pivotal moments in his career due to positive feedback and demand for his bread-making skills, as well as his ideals for the future. The session concluded with a Q&A where students' questions were answered.
Following the discussion, the workshop continued with the second part where the eagerly awaited bread and pizza doughs were prepared and the finished products were placed in the ovens, filling the air with delightful aromas. Despite his busy schedule, Deputy Director Lecturer Özkan Yazar dedicated his entire day to the event at our school and presented Chef Hasan Kaplan with a certificate of appreciation.
Finally, the event concluded with everyone enjoying the long-awaited bread and pizzas together. We extend our gratitude to our graduate Hasan Chef for visiting and supporting current students aspiring to follow in his footsteps, thereby contributing his knowledge and experience to the GUBY family where he once walked as a student.
